Abia Monthly Clean-Up Exercise For Month Of January Commendable

Abia State Commissioner for Environment, Barrister Sam Nwogu, who was represented by Mrs Obi Madukaihuaku, a deputy director of a Environmental health in the ministry, reiterated the need for the Abia people, to take the monthly sanitation exercise serious and to ensure that they always keep their Environments clean, making it cleared that a cleaning environment is a healthy environment.

She said that, she was not impressed with the people turn up for the month of January 2023 clean up exercise, stating that she was not satisfied and also not happy with the exercise, as the people, failed to turn up for the exercise, even in some of the places he visited. The deputy director, later blamed it on the changing of money, that is going on in the country now. 

She advised those who have not been participating to emulate those, who have decided to obey the government directives and start participating in the exercise, since a cleaning environment is healthy environment. 

She stated this to the Journalists after monitoring the month of January clean up exercise in Umuahia in company with some of staff of the ministry and some Journalists in the state.
 She cautioned those with nonchalant attitude to desist from such acts. 

Mrs Obi Madukaihuaku, charged the Abians, to always keep their environments clean, to avoid some of the diseases like diphtheria, 
and wondered why people would be waiting for Government to come and compel them to keep their surroundings clean especially at this time of Global pandemic and climate change. 

 She maintained that the responsibility of cleaning our environment requires a collective effort, 
and further advised the residents of the state to assist the State Governments efforts in sustaining the cleanliness of the state, and warned those who have been doing unconcerned, to stop such attitude.
