Expectations as Sokoto Awaits Results of Senatorial, House of Reps Elections

There was a great relief as people turnout en masse for the April 15th supplementary elections to elect their senators and House of Representatives members.
The designated supplementary elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, rerun took place in 10 out of the 11 Federal constituencies and three Senatorial zones.
In the field, the media team at various polling units observed, people were exercising their franchise freely in the presence of good numbers of heavily armed security personnel.
According to the list INEC provided for rerun election in Sokoto, most of the polling units visited across the state voters were seen passionately trying to cast their votes.
For the federal constituencies, the elections took place in 468 polling units across 133 registration areas with the total number of registered voters at 276,684.
Meanwhile, the supplementary elections for the Senate took place in 522 polling units cutting across 155 registration areas.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has named the polling units where the supplementary election would take place in Sokoto state.
Recalled, previously Yabo, 37, defeated the incumbent member, representing the area and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abubakar Umar after scoring 24,792 votes against the 22,497 votes secured by Umar.

For the federal constituencies, the election to take place in 468 polling units across 133 registration areas with the total numbers of registered voters stood at 276,684.
However, the supplementary election for the Senate will take place in 522 polling units cutting across 155 registration areas.”
INEC has distributed sensitive materials for the supplementary election and vote commence by 8:40am in most polling units enquired.
In Sokoto south and Sokoto North where conducts were monitored :Kofar Atiku ward polling unit, Bala (010) with 650 registered voters according to INEC polling officer, the security agents on ground include, armed police, Civil defence and Army, immigration and prison officers. Still in Sokoto South Ward, Kofar Atiku polling unit ( 019 ) has registered voters of (775), heavily presence Securities officers seen Include Army, police, Civil defence and Nigerian prison officers.
Same goes for Sokoto North when the media visited some of the polling units, Marji Gari B (010) ward; Sodamgi 2 , having registered voters of (750) the securities personnel seen on ground were the same as that of Sokoto South everyone presence were forced to behaved themselves orderly and in line with the provisions of INEC rules.
Moreso, In the spirit of the Ramadan, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, Sokoto North senatorial district has decided to break the fast with the people in his residential premises in Sokoto State.
Sitting in rolls in an organized banquet, the distinguished senator Wamakko was seated in their mist they ate and dine together to satisfaction.
The people’s senator in expressing his deep gratitude to Allah for the peaceful conducts in rerun, thanked everyone presence and allover for the trust reposed on him and the party APC which guarantee the victory at all levels.
