Former Deputy Chairmen Forum adopts Prof Uche Ikonne as Governorship candidate

The Former Deputy Chairmen Forum in Abia State, have adopted all the PDP candidates for 2023 general election in the state. Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia in the state capital, the convener of the group, a two times deputy chairman of Aba North local government area, Hon. Chinyere Chijioke, said that the adoption of the former vice chancellor of the Abia State University Uturu, Prof Elezier Ikonne as the favoured Governorship candidate for the state PDP, as a good one, describing Prof Uche Ikonne as an Academician, who can handle the state very well.

The former deputy chairman of Aba North in 2012 and 2016 used the opportunity to pass a vote of confidence on governor Ikpeazu, whom he said have done very well in the state. Stating that, if Prof Uche Ikonne becomes the governor, after 2023 general election, that he will continue with the good work of Ikpeazu.

Hon Chijioke, who is the convener of the forum, told the journalists that, the organization was formed two years ago, stated that the aims and the objectives of the organization is for them to come together as body, and also to see how to be meeting with their social needs, and also be meeting from time to time, and not only be meeting during the election period. Stated that, during last primary election, that the former deputy chairmen forum were part of the three man delegates, that brought Elezier Ikonne as the Governorship candidate of the PDP, even those for Senate, house of representatives and that of house of assembly.

The former deputy chairman of the Aba North in 2012 and 2016, who spoke to newsmen, stated that many of their members were not able to attend the meeting that day, because that heavy rain.

He also informed the newsmen that, the organization have agreed to pay a courtesy visit to both the sitting governor and the PDP governorship aspirant, very soon.
