How Pregnant Woman Biting By Snake On Bed Laid To Rest Amidst Tears In Plateau

A four months pregnant mother of three(3) Mrs. Kukyang Peace Solomon who was biting by a gigantic Cobra snake while sleeping in their bed room at night was laid to rest amidst rain of tears.

Late Kukyang a 34 years old mother married to her beloved husband Mr. Sankira Solomon was biting on the 24th July, 2022 when they were sleeping in their house located at ECWA Staff School area in the city of Jos and died few hours after.

Family members, friends and well wishers converged at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Bishara 2, Jenta in Jos to bid her farewell from mother earth as the surviving husband alongside children and other relatives were completely devastated.

Earlier on, a family source narrated to Newsmen the event that led to the agony in the family which they described as mysterious Snake appeared on the matrimonial bed of the couple’s and bite the woman.

BACKGROUND

The family source narrated thus, “Sometimes in April this year, they discovered a snake skin inside their kitchen and everywhere was searched but nothing was found. The smaller holes were all blocked and a traditional incense that often chased snakes away was used and the family were relax believing that the problem have been solved.

Three weeks before the biting incident, she discovered some strange excreta (feces) at the same spot she earlier discovered the snake skin and they wondering what kind of animal that produces such feces because they did not look like that of rats.

“But on a faithful Sunday night 24th July, 2022, they were sleeping at around 9pm and suddenly the wife screamed and wake her husband up from sleep and he light up his touch only to see the head of a big black Snake by the side of the bed. They ran outside to the parlour and closed the inner room, she told him to tight her hand which he did and she was brought to Bingham University Teaching Hospital in Jos with the help of their neighbors and the Community leader (Mai Anguwa) while the three children were taken to a neighbour’s house for safety.

“She was attended to at the Accident and Emergency Unit before doctors discovered that she is four months pregnant and referred her to Maternity Ward. The Anti Snake drugs were brought and ready to be administered but we can’t explained what happened within those minutes and started struggling with life and gave up,” the family member sadly narrated.

HOW THE SNAKE WAS CAUGHT

Mr. Dauda Akwai is the elder brother of the husband of late Peace, he said they had to engaged the services of a traditional snake doctor who came and pulled the huge Snake from their wardrobe. “We were scared of entering the house talk more of the room to killed the snake. We were told of a man who often catches snake.

“We made concerted efforts and reached out to him, the man who came alongside his small apprentice boy told the boy to stand by the inner room’s door at the parlour while he entered the inner room without a stick or a machete. I only saw him pouring a small powder of traditional medicine in brown color on his palm and we stood outside for some times. Shortly, he brought out the huge snake, and I said it should be killed immediately but the man swiftly refuted No! he said is against his work, and we all stood in shocked.

“The Snake was brought into the family House at Angwan Soya and everybody confirmed and know the type of snake that bite our wife before the snake man left with it, he said he won’t give us,” he emotionally explained.

THE SNAKE MAN

A visit to the snake man known as Dodo Mai Machiji at his NEPA abode along Zaria road the outskirts of the State capital. Dodo the Snake man appeared to speak with members of the Press with another big Snake he carries around discovered to have been caught few days after that of Late Peace at Utan Area of Jos North LGA in a residential house also.

With over 25 years stayed at NEPA, Dodo is a household name around NEPA for his snake work and how he played with snakes at the same time. When asked if there are Snake sent by human and there are those that are not? He answered in affirmation Yes! “There are Snake sent by human to go and harm a fellow human being and there are those that are natural. You may only cross each other’s path and might decided to bite you or runaway his thing simple.”

But when asked if the Snake that bite late Peace to dead is a sent-snake or natural one? And how can he distinguished between a sent-snake from unsent ones? and he responded thus, “Whenever I see a snake that is sent I know it because if I approached it and wanted to catch the snake, it will disappeared. Until I blew some traditional powder to the direction it disappeared too before it will reappeared again and then I will catch it.

“The snake that bite this woman is not a sent-snake, it could have disappeared, I inherited this work from my late father who also inherited it from my grandfather,” Dodo smiles at the freezing Journalists who could not stand him while displaying and kissing one of the snakes as well as hanging some deadly species in his chest pocket.

He said every rocky environment attracts snakes and Jos weather is also a favourable condition for different kind of snakes to live in because is not a hot weather like in our place in Sokoto and other places.
